May has arrived and the new season has arrived. It's an exciting year with many changes to the CSL league: new diamonds, new divisions, new teams, and new rules
After many years, the new baseball diamonds have been developed at Woodall Woods Park in the north east corner of Woodstock. Our league is now moving from its beloved home for many years at Victoria Park (with a blip in Foldens last year) to new diamonds. Our league has been given the recently named "Cowan Fields" #2 & #3 and the Complex Back diamonds on Tuesday nights. Please make sure you check your team's schedule for which diamond you are on.
With the opportunity to use the new diamonds, we have had an opportunity to expand our league to Three 6-team divisions. We now have a Division A, Division B and a Division C. To balance out the new divisions, we have two new Teams joining the league: Oxford 2 and Innerkip 2.
Also there are some new rules, check out the rules pages for more details of the current (with revised rules). A brief overview of the new rules:
- new game times 6:30, 8:00 & 9:30
- time limits - 1:15 game time
- mercy rule - 15 rules after 5 innings
- over the fence home run rule - plus 3
- anticipation step - no longer out
- division A will be trying out sliding
As you can see, its been quite a busy off season and we are so looking forward to playing this season.
